Henry Ford on Obstacles and Goals

December 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” – Henry Ford

Don’t be afraid of the hurdles, focus on the goal.

There will always be obstacles along the way. It is something that every achiever has learned to accept. It is no secret that the higher your goal the greater the obstacles.

Think of it as climbing mountains. The higher the peak, the tougher it is to climb. Mt. Everest is the highest peak on Earth so it is considered the toughest of all mountains. However, it is also the crowning glory of all climbers.

There was a conversation I heard between an avid climber and an interested observer. The observer asked, “Why do you do it?” He was obviously wondering about the sacrifices done during the prep and the dangers of the climb.

The answer was a question that seemed to be a common response of climbers, “You have not been to the top have you?”

Focus your eyes on the goal. Imagine the feeling of reaching your peak then the fear of obstacles will diminish and disappear.
